Gene Hubert Larson, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, March 17, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Jimmy Fant officiating. The family will greet friends before the service.
Mr. Larson was born May 18, 1933, in Waukegan, Illinois, to the late Martin & Helen Hubert Larson. He received his certification and worked as an electrician for Commonwealth Edison for his entire career. He moved to the community 20 years ago. Mr. Larson loved to travel and together with his wife enjoyed the Great Smoky mountains. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping and also loved to fish. He was a member of Bowens Mill Christian Center and attended Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Larson served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953.
He is survived by his children: Leslie Michaelson & husband Bennett of Kent, Washington, Linda Barrette & husband Paul of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Laura Clark and fiancé Dustin Gibbs of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Janelle Sarchett & husband Tim, Elysa Clark, Bethany Clark, Paul James Barrette, Joshua Barrette, and McCoy Gibbs; and a great-grandchild, Kylee Sarchett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Mae Larson; a daughter, Luann Jean Larson; a great-grandson, Aiden Christopher; and two brothers.
