CHRISTINE McNEIL EVARTS
Christine Ann (McNeil) Evarts, age 88, of Old Evarts Lane, Mystic, died Tuesday afternoon at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in new London where she was admitted on Saturday.
Mrs Evarts was born in new London on July 27, 1913 the daughter of John and Harriet (McCloud) McNeil.
A longtime resident of Mystic, the Evarts family was the first family to settle on Old Evarts Lane in 1938. Prior to her retirement, Mrs Evarts worked at Norelco and also served as dessert manager of Skipper’s Dock. She will be lovingly remembered for her strong will and her devotion to her family.
She was married to Robert Leslie Evarts at St. Patrick Church, Mystic on May 30, 1932. He died August 29, 1970.
Mrs. Evarts is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Robert Evarts of Niantic, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Geri Evarts of Mystic, three grandchildren, Christy Corbin of Maryland, Susan Evarts-Lloyd of Waterford, and Debra Hurlock of NY, and four great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son, Frederick Evarts who died January 14th.
A Private Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation is private for the family. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program.
