David C. Smith 63 of Whitman, beloved husband of Lisa A. (Haskins) Smith, loving father of David Andrew, Amie Marie, Andria Patricia, and Riley Joyce Smith, grandfather to Orion James Batts, died suddenly on Sunday March 3.
Born in Chelsea and raised in Whitman, he was the loving son of the late Patricia E. (Lydon) Smith and a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High, Class of 1973.
David had been a talented chef for over forty years and had received a “Local Heroes Award” for teaching cooking and nutrition, for over eight years, to parents of the Head Start Program.
He loved music and nature, but his greatest happiness came from his family and close friends.
In addition to his wife Lisa and his children he is survived by his sisters Linda, Wanda, Joanne and Cindra as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his lifelong and best friends, David Millett, Ricky Walsh and Cody Peninger, whom he considered as brothers.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday March 8 from 4:00-7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
A memorial service will be held Thursday March 14th at 5PM in the First Congregational Church of Whitman, 519 Washington Street, Whitman.
