Peter J. Matonis, died unexpectedly after a brief illness. Born in Cambridge, Peter was a longtime resident of Malden. He was the son of the late Julius and Mary Matonis. Beloved husband of Florence (Chick) Matonis. Devoted father of Lynda “Peaches” Garofano, Deborah Lee Gilchrist and Frederick P. Weld, all of Wakefield. Dear brother of the late Julius Matonis, Emily Morgan and Ann Koslotsky. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Peter served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was employed as an export manager at Ionics in Watertown for 40 years. At the request of his family, services are private.
