Obituary



Charles R. “Charlie” Kastner, a resident of Stoughton, MA, formerly of New York, passed away at home on Wednesday December 28, 2005. He was 85 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Ella V. (Blondie).

Born June 22, 1920, in Manhattan, New York he was the son of the late Louis and Minnie (Sable) Kastner. Mr. Kastner attended public schools in New York.

Mr. Kastner joined the United States Army as a young man and was active in WWII. He had the grade of PFC and served with the 3941ST Division as a Quartermaster in its Trucking Company. He was the proud recipient of The Good Conduct Medal .

Mr. Kastner was later employed as a Dockmaster with the Minniford Shipyard in the Bronx, New York.

He enjoyed Bowling, was a member of the American Legion in New York and was very active with both the Youth Group at St. Georges Church in Manhattan, New York and the Boy Scouts organization.

He is survived by his children Robert C. Kastner and his wife Geraldine of Stoughton and Donald G. Kastner of the Bronx, New York. He was the brother of John Kastner of Florida, Anna Fano of Pennsylvania and Frances Rizzo of Revere, MA. Other survivors include his six grandchildren, Michael and Eric Kastner of North Carolina, Adam Kastner of San Diego, California, Amy, Lori and Julie Kastner, all of Stoughton.

Visiting hours to which friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend will be held on Friday December 30, 2005 from 5-8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. His funeral service and burial will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland Street, Stoughton, MA 02072 in Charlies memory, would be appreciated.
