Obituary

ELSTERMEYER, Charles F. of Medford and Braintree, 94, passed away at the Brockton Veterans Hospital on November 9th, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 72 years of Florence F. (Mann) Elstermeyer who passed in June 2017; the loving father of Robert C. Elstermeyer and his wife Alice T. Elstermeyer of Braintree, and Nancy M. Peveler and her husband David L. Peveler of Orlando, FL; and cherished grandfather of Robert E. Elstermeyer, Coleen A. Elstermeyer, John C. Elstermeyer, Katherine L. Fattaruso, and Laura E. Savage. Originally from St. Louis, MO, Charles joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in World War II. He was a survivor of the sinking by torpedo of the U.S.S. Beatty DD-640, which occurred 75 years ago this week. He was a longtime U.S. Post Office employee and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral beginning from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., MALDEN on Thursday, November 15th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. The interment will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1 PM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday November 14th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, www.nmcrs.org.
