Neil Vincent Dennehy, of Medford, December 10th. Born in Malden, Neil was the only son of the late Phillip and Grace (Welsh) Dennehy. He was a resident of Medford for most of his life with the love of his wife, Marie (Barcellos) Dennehy. Neil is a graduate of the Cheverus Grammar School, Malden Catholic High School and the Massachusetts Military Academy. He was employed by the Massachusetts Electric Company for 40 years, serving as a meter reader, a lineman and an overhead foreman. He served his county honorably in the National Guard and the Army Reserves, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Neil is the father of Mary Dennehy-Colorusso and her husband Richard of North Reading and the late Joan Marie Dennehy. His most cherished grandchildren, who he continually doted upon, supported and shared mini road trips and adventures include Caroline Marie, Jenna Clare and Richard Neil, all of North Reading. He also leaves his cousins, the Matthews family and the McDonough Family, originally from Malden. Neil was an avid reader with a particular interest in military and historical non-fiction. He became quite the traveler with his trusted, ever patient, mostly willing partner in crime traveling companion Marie. In more recent years, Neil took up golf (who knew?) and looked forward to his Tuesdays and Thursday with “the guys”, chasing the elusive hole-in-one and sliced golf balls. He also looked forward to having lunch with “The Blown Fuses Club”. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home , 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday Dec. 15th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Interment is private. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday Dec. 14th from 2-6 PM.
