Obituary

Josephine M. Kline, (nee Heerman), of Medford, December 16th, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Joseph Kline. Mother of Ruth Leah Kline and Ralph M. Kline and his wife Rory of Medford. Grandmother to Stephanie Douglas and “Gramma” to Brady of Medford. Mrs. Kline is also “Aunty Jo” to Bill Heerman of Bridgewater, Paul and Gloria Heerman of Brockton, Barbara and Bill Bechtel of Bridgewater, the late Marcia Heerman of Brandenton Beach, Florida, Donna and Glen Thompson of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Jack and Joann Heerman of Stamford, Connecticut, Fred and Shirley Kline of Nashua, New Hampshire, Rob and Sue Kline of Middleton and Roger and Heather Heerman of Bridgewater; along with numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Jo was born and raised in Medford along with her older brother, the late William Heerman of Avon and younger brother, the late Armond Heerman of Greenwich, Connecticut. A 1941 graduate of Medford High School, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company from 1946-1956 and at the Aetna Insurance Company/CIGNA from 1972-1988 as a Commercial Casualty Underwriter. She was the “Lunch Mother” from 1965-1970 at the Swan School and, along with the late Helen (Amoroso) Dean, Mrs. Kline facilitated the after school string instrument education programs for the Medford Public Schools from 1963-1970, working with Music Directors Robert Schoomacher and Patrick Melchionda. A member of the Medford Women’s Club, Jo was president of that organization in 1992 during the city’s centenary year. A member of the First Baptist Church, Josephine participated in the Business & Professional Women’s and Bible Study groups.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend a Service in Witness to the Resurrection and in Celebration of Josephine’s life at the First Baptist Church, 29 Oakland Street, Medford on Saturday December 22nd at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday December 21st from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo Kline’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, 29 Oakland St., Medford, MA 02155 c/o Music Programs.
