Whitman, MA - Karen M. Tufts, age 59 years, of Whitman, passed away Saturday March 2, 2019 at Brockton Hospital, following a courageous battle with an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Tufts of Weymouth and the late Catherine (Yafrate) (Tufts) Torosian of Whitman and her husband, the late Masrob "Jack" Torosian of Revere, sister to Laura (Tufts) White and husband George White of Abington. She was mother to Tracy Tufts and her longtime companion Max Mogan of Holbrook. One of her life's greatest joys was her new grandson Myles Mogan. She is also survived by her aunt Judy Crawford of Hanson and many cousins, nieces and nephews and her companion Wayne.
Born in Brockton, she was a graduate of Weymouth North High School. She was employed at the Queen Anne Nursing Home, Brockton Hospital and Dunkin Donuts.
In her youth, she competed with the Girls Drill Team of the 35th Regimentals and even traveled to Spain with the group, sparking her love of travel.
She found herself most happy when she was at the beach, always wearing her flip flops. As of late, her favorite beach was Myrtle Beach, SC. Her personality lit up a room, her humor always made you smile and her kindness knew no boundaries as she was always helping others. She enjoyed card games, especially cribbage and poker. She enjoyed weekly games/tournaments with friends and family. She was an avid music lover and regularly attended concerts of a variety of musical performers. She was a master of puzzles, completing 1,000 piece puzzles in a week’s time-to everyone's amazement. Her favorite sports team was the New England Patriots and she never missed watching a game! Karen always enjoyed time spent with her dearest friends Mel and Jim Liquori, especially when they all went sailing.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 4-7pm, with a Memorial Service at 7pm in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.
