Obituary

Kathleen T. (Flanagan) Curran of Malden passed away peacefully on January 19, 2019 at age 90. Kathleen “Kay” Curran was a lifelong and well known resident of Malden and a long term and faithful parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Parish. She was raised in Malden as the oldest child of William and Eleanor (Kierstead) Flanagan and was married to her High School sweetheart Paul A. Curran for over 66 years. Kay was a four year honor student at Girls Catholic High School and was elected Class President of her class in 1946 before working many years at the First National and Eastern bank locations in Malden. Kathleen was the loving matriarch of her family of six children and the beloved “Nana” to her eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She lived a full and devoted life to her Roman Catholic faith, her friends and family, and was known and loved by all as a woman of great kindness, compassion, and humility. She is survived by her husband Paul A. “Papa” Curran of Malden, her sister Mary Duhy Flanagan of Stoneham, her sister Margaret Flanagan Geraghty of Malden, son Paul P.J. Curran and Sheryl Reid of Ipswich, son Andrew F. Curran of Danvers, daughter June A. and Barton L. Munro, Jr. of Ipswich, daughter Christine M. and Alan Forgione of Windham NH, daughter Donna M. and Mark Murphy of Double Oak, Texas, and son Mark D. and Lilliam Curran of Malden. She is also survived by her eighteen loving grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren living in MA, NH, NJ, TX, CA, and CO. She was predeceased by her brothers William, John and Arthur Flanagan. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday January 24th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services wlll conclude with interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday January 23rd from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
