John Gioiosa, 63, passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at the Kaplan Family hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family. John was the son of the late Donato “Daniel” and Josephine (Geraci) Gioiosa. He was raised in East Boston and graduated from St. Dominic Savio High School. After high school John held several jobs before becoming employed as a letter carrier at the U.S. Postal Service, where he stayed until his recent retirement after 34 years of service.
He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Patriots, Red Sox and Bruins. John was the loving husband of Mary (Olson) Gioiosa, and the father of Nicholas, Daniel and Nicholina Gioiosa, all of Malden, brother of Charles Gioiosa and his wife Barbara Brainin of Seattle, WA, Denise and Alan Giangregorio of Winthrop and the late Anthony, Marie and Anne Gioiosa. Also survived by his sister-in-law Linda Stiles and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog “Rusty”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday, Feb. 5th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8PM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
