Obituary

Ms. Wynelle “Nelle” Greene Farrar Bass, 90, passed away Sunday, March, 3, 2019, in Sylvester at the home of her daughter surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Funeral Home with the Revs. BJ Funk, Robby Paulk and Chip Grantham officiating. Mrs. Bass will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, March, 7, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals and on Friday, March 8, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Wright Kimbro, Sr., Jay Kimbro, Drew Sapp, David Garron Bass, Alan Kimbro and Steven Kratz will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the TRMC Pink Ladies Auxiliary.

Ms. Bass was born January 18, 1929 in Tifton, GA to the late Willard Hendricks Greene and Cleo Carter Greene Curley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carter Evans (Buddy) Greene, a sister, Della Maud Curley Myrick, a special brother-in-law, Floyd Howell and grandchildren, Niki Cooper, Timothy Bass, and Christopher Lovins. She was a member of Tifton First United Methodist Church. She was retired as the resident manager for Village Square Apartments and had previously worked at Union Camp, C&S Bank of Tifton, and Tifton Machine Works.

Ms. Bass is survived by her two daughters, Janice Farrar Kimbro (Alan) of Sylvester, Lori Bass Sapp (Steve) of Chicago, IL; three sons, David Bass (Kaye) of Lenox, GA, John Farrar (Elda) of Lincoln, City, OR and Alan Farrar (Lori) of Elberta, AL; one sister, Mary Kathryn Howell of Pelham, AL; two brothers, Willard Hendricks (Billy) Greene, Jr. (Sybil) of Carrollton, GA, and James L. (Jimmy) Greene (Marlene) of Decatur, GA; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Greene of Stockbridge, GA; ten grandchildren, Wright and Stephanie Kimbro, Jay Kimbro and Kathy Dunning, Drew and Jessica Sapp, David Garron Bass, Cindy and Paul Spannhake, Travis and Melynda Barth, Raymond and Jessie Barth, Robert and Brenda Farrar, Kristy Farrar (Colen Nelson), and William Lovins; great-grandchildren, Wright Kimbro, Jr., Kennedy Kimbro, Worth Kimbro, Gatlin Kimbro, Fendley Kimbro, Kathleen Cooper, Emma Spannhake, Sonnet Spannhake, Nevaeh Barth, Emily Farrar, Zoe Farrar, Virginya Gibbons, Mikayla Byington, and Brayden Farrar; nieces and nephews, Vic Greene, Stanley Green (Tracy), Mike Greene, Christi Greene, Mark Greene (Tracey), Doug Greene (Julia), Tommy Greene (Christine), Sherry Greene, Lynn Greene Adams (Jim), and Cleo Howell Gorman (Randy).

Ms. Bass was a prior, longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Board as the church’s financial secretary, member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and the Worship Committee and sang in the church choir. She was a dedicated volunteer and served as Vice President and later President of the TRMC Pink Ladies Auxiliary and the Golden Age Club. She was a member of Club 55 and the Concerned Citizens Group. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid gardener and she loved her Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Johnny Stephens and the staff at the Anita Stewart Oncology Center, Dr. Jim Scott and his team at TRMC Joint Replacement and Spine Care Center, Dr. Brittney Berckman and the staff at Affinity Clinic, the staff at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation and Hospice of Tift Area for their exceptional care and concern for Ms. Bass over the past two years.
