FALL RIVER – Maria Dos Añjos Gouveia, age 95 of Fall River, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with her beloved family by her side. Born in Arrifes, São Miguel, Açores, Maria was the daughter of the late João & Maria (Rego) Borges, and the wife of the late Arthur P. Gouveia.
Prior to retiring, Maria worked as a Cloth Trimmer for Center Garment Mfg. and she was a member of the I.L.G.W.U.
Survivors include her children: Arthur Gouveia of Fall River, Anibal Gouveia of Swansea, Maria Almeida and Paul Gouveia both of Fall River; grandchildren: Adam Gouveia, Ryan Almeida, Ashley & Nicholas Gouveia, & Nathan Servant; great grandchildren: Jacob Gouveia, Riley and Landon Pacheco; many nieces and nephews. Maria was the mother of the late Joseph and Laura Gouveia, and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters.
Maria’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday, March 5th with visitation from 8:00 – 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. www.rogersfuneral.com.
