Obituary


Salvatore P. Baudanza, age 85, of Medford formerly of Boston's North End, passed away Friday morning March 1, 2019 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances T. (Sarno) Baudanza who passed away this past June. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Belline) Baudanza.

Salvatore was a Medford resident since 1972. He worked for several years with Colonial Meat Packing and also worked for many years as talented craftsman specializing in hardwood flooring installation with the Charles J. Auditorie Flooring Company prior to his retirement and was a member of the Floor Coverers Local Union 2168 of Boston. In more recent years, Salvatore work for the City of Medford as a Crossing Guard primarily located at the McGlynn School.

Salvatore's life was focused on family and his strong Catholic faith. He loved to keep in touch with his large extended family and was always visiting with them making sure he was up to date on the family and what was happening in their lives. He will be fondly remembered as gentle and soft spoken. He was the family peacemaker, always wanting to bring people together. He loved people.

In his leisure time he enjoyed skiing in the winter months and was an avid fan of his beloved Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed coaching his son Dean as a young boy when he was active in North Medford Little League. However, one of his greatest joys was his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than spending time with them and being an important part of their lives. He was an amazing grandfather.

Salvatore was the devoted father of Dean Baudanza and his wife Melissa of Billerica, Janene Sleem and her husband Anthony of Texas. He was the loving grandfather Siena and Lucca Baudanza, and Amber and Amanda Sleem of Texas. Dear brother of the late Joseph, Frank "Barry", Peter and Josie Baudanza, Mary Calma, Marion Czyzewski and Santa Sylvester. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.


Funeral Services will be held from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, March 6th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Sal's memory to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
