Obituary


Shirley L. (Cronin) Daniels, 87 of East Walpole, MA and a breast cancer survivor, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on March 1, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard A. Daniels who passed in 2016.

Born in Norwood, MA on April 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Lillian V. (Coughlin) Cronin, Shirley lived in East Walpole for most of her life.

She was a graduate of Walpole High School. Shirley had been employed by Raytheon. While raising her four children she worked at McDonalds. Once the children were grown she went to work at Stop & Shop for the next 28 years retiring at 81 in 2012 remaining as feisty as ever.

She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Nite Owls, candlepin bowling league.

Shirley is survived by her children, Sheila A. Roberts and her partner Ron Hubbard of Plainville, MA; Nancy G. Decoulos of Peabody, MA; Richard M. Daniels his wife Cathy of Gardner, MA and Joan M. Landry and her husband Duane of Rockland, MA.

Her siblings sisters Jean Peavey of Walpole, MA; Marge Rooney of East Walpole, MA and June McCarthy and her husband Thomas of Walpole, MA. She was also the sister of the late Gerald Cronin of South Carolina; Leo Cronin of Taunton, MA; Lillian (Sis) Gianetti of Walpole, MA and Patricia Jenks of Westwood, MA.

Her grandchildren Tyler J. Daniels and his partner Missy of East Walpole, Matthew T. Daniels of Gardner, MA and the late Nicholas Decoulos.

Her great grandchildren Tyler J. Daniels, Jr. and Rylie Rose Daniels of East Walpole, MA.

After retiring Shirley opened her home to her niece Sandra Gianetti and her grandson Tyler J. Daniels and his family.

Shirley, Nana or Mom; whatever you call her she will be dearly missed. She was very popular at work and in her personal life and was loved by all for her fresh mouth and gruffness. She remained her smart ass self, right up to the end. Shirley was one of a kind and will be missed by all. Rest in peace and we love you.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 5 in the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole from 4-8 p.m. with a service to be held at the conclusion of the visiting hours.

Burial will in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
