Funeral services for Jim Black, 70, of Ashburn, GA will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Perry Funeral Chapel. Mr. Black passed away Thursday at his residence following an extended illness. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.
The son of the late James Richard and Laura Jane Priest Black he was born in Turner County. He was a mechanic and owner of Jim Black Trucking and a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. Mr. Black served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970. He loved his grandchildren to whom he devoted all of his time to. He also loved trucking business and enjoyed listening to the semi trucks.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Black, his grandchildren, Kelsi Black, Jackson Black, Andrew Smith and Peter Smith, his sisters, Marlene White of Warwick and Deborah Shumake of Dalton; his son in law, James Ernest Smith and his fiancée Trudy Sawyer of Ashburn.
In addition to his parents, his was preceded in death by his children Jamie Black and Sheri B. Smith and a grandson Daniel Smith.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services at Perry Funeral Chapel.
