Obituary

Rita (Choquette) Sullivan, 84, of Dartmouth passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Alden Court Nursing Home, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Daniel F. Sullivan.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Alfred R. and Rosina (Robert) Choquette, she lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.

Rita was formerly employed as a waitress at various local restaurants. She also assisted her husband in his business, Dartmouth Feeders.

She was the beloved matriarch of her family and her grandchildren were a central part of her life. Also, you could often find Rita watching local sports teams on TV.

She is survived by five children, Maureen Sullivan and her husband Edmond Pereira of New Bedford, Margaret “Peggy” Duarte and her husband Mark, and Kathleen Nanopoulos and her fiancé Jeff Lonergan, all of Vero Beach, FL, Steven Sullivan and his wife Terese of New Bedford, and John Sullivan and his wife Geraldine of Dartmouth; her siblings, Roland Choquette and his wife Louise of Crockett, CA, Theresa Gregoire of Rochester, and George Choquette and his wife Danielle of Wareham; eight grandchildren, Lauren, Ross, Sean, Matthew, Luke, Jack, Kyle, and Kathryn; a great-grandson, Justin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Robert Choquette.

Her Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth. Her family will receive visitors at the church from 9-10 AM, prior to the Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s memory may be made to the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
