Obituary

William Joseph Moyer, 84, of Tifton, died Friday, February 22, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 2PM, Monday, February 25, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev Fred Evers and the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2PM until 4PM at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Moyer was born August 16, 1934, in Covington, Kentucky to the late Henry Clay Moyer and Anna Poynter. He worked for National Automatic Sprinkler for 28 years as an installer. He then worked for the Ocilla Water Department for ten years and went on to the police academy and became the oldest person to graduate from the academy. After his graduation, he worked for the Irwin County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Moyer loved to golf and fish. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Tifton. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda Moyer of Tifton; children, Dana & Sam McGill, Jr. of Aiken, South Carolina, Wendy McFarland of Ocilla, Steven & Pin McFarland of Ocilla, and Stephanie & Ron Everett, Jr. of Sharjah, UAE; grandchildren, Samuel McGill, MaryFrances McGill, Linda Grace Everett, Joseph Everett, and Micah Everett; siblings, John & Pat Moyer of Erlanger, Kentucky, Betty Oard of Florence, Kentucky, and Mary & Jack Holt of Ludlow, Kentucky; beloved fur babies, Rusty and Kadie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Adams and Jack Moyer.
