Richard J. Lavoie, of Wilmington, formerly of Medford and Brookton, Maine, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 20th. He was 85. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Gerard and Imalda (Carrier) Lavoie.
Richard was a pro when it came to fishing. He had an extensive fishing lore collection. When Richard was not fishing he loved to cook. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and reading the daily newspaper.
Richard was known to be a hard worker and loved his job delivering bread for Pepperidge Farms. After his retirement Richard and his loving wife Helen loved to spend time in their summer home in Brookton, Maine.
Richard was the beloved husband of Helen (Donehey) Burgoyne, and the late Jeannette (Galante) Lavoie. He was the devoted father of Gerard Lavoie, Jacqueline Griffith and her husband Scott, Stephanie Jewlas and her husband Billy, Richard Lavoie and his wife Bonnie, Carolyn Lavoie and James Lavoie and his wife Dianne, and the loving grandfather of 15, and great-grandfather of 3. He is also survived by many loving siblings, family members and friends.
His funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, February 25th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West. Medford, Monday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 3 - 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford
