Elizabeth Ann "Bettye" Gallagher, 77, of Hampstead, NH, passed away at her residence after a period of declining health. She was born July 7, 1941 in Everett, MA a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Keating) Homer. She was a long-time resident of Lawrence MA until retiring to Hampstead NH in 2000.
Bettye was employed for many years for the Town of North Andover and the Town of Chelmsford, MA where she retired from her professional life to care for the grandchildren. She enjoyed travel and beach life, listening to the waves crash on Myrtle Beach, or any beach for that matter. Bettye also loved planning these trips and capturing the memories into her amazing photo scrapbooks. She loved music, reading, crafts and knitting. Doing puzzles and playing scrabble and other games with her husband and the kids, Bettye dedicated her life to her family and friends, she was selfless and ready to help anyone at any time. Her smile would light up a room.
Members of the family include her loving husband of 56 years, James J. “Jim” Gallagher, two children and their spouses, Kathleen & Brian Dingman and James W. & Kristine Gallagher, her five grandchildren, James Peter Gallagher and Thomas Gallagher, Jack, Cody & Brianna Dingman, three sibling, William & John Homer and Laura McKenna, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bettye was predeceased by her sisters, Ellen McIntyre and Nancy Daigle.
After cremation, a memorial visitation was held Saturday February 23, 2019 from 10 to 11:30 am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road Londonderry, NH with a memorial service at 11:30. In lieu of flowers donations to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. #9 Lawrence, MA 01843, would be appreciated.
