Obituary

Fall River – Paul A. Amaral, 66, of Westport, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005, unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Casey) Amaral.

He was born in Fall River, son of the late Manuel and Virginia F. (Vieira) Amaral and was a lifelong resident of Westport. A graduate of Westport High School, he graduated from University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture, graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Masters Degree in Education and also earned several other culinary degrees from various institutions. He was a Chef Instructor at Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School. He attended St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Mr. Amaral was a member of the American Culinary Federation, American Academy of Chefs, the Honorable Order of the Golden Toque, Culinary Hall of Fame, Cape Cod and the Islands Chef’s Association and several other organizations.

Including his wife, he is survived by 5 sons: Michael L. Amaral of Holly Spring, NC, Bradford M. Amaral of Westport, Douglas P. Amaral of Dartmouth, Casey P. Amaral of Westport and James P. Amaral of Westport; a daughter: Karla M. Amaral of Moultrie, GA; a brother: Earle G. Amaral of DeKalb Junction, NY; 4 grandchildren; and several nephews.

He was father of the late Gregory E. Amaral.

Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, December 31, 2005 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Thursday 5 – 8 P.M. and Friday 5 – 8 P.M.

Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
