Richard Eugene "Rick" Hawkins, 65, of Tifton passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Hospice House of Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Todd Garner officiating. Mr. Hawkins will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery, The family will receive friends Sunday, February 17, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Lee Hawkins, Mark Hawkins, Christopher Hawkins, Matt Hawkins, Robert Jacobs and Chad Scoggins will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the Tiftarea YMCA and Ray McLean.
Born July 12, 1953 in Anderson, South Carolina, Mr. Hawkins was the son of the late Edward C. Hawkins and Wilma Thrasher Hawkins. He was owner and operator of H & H Contractors and the Facilities Director at the Tiftarea YMCA. He was a member of Isabella Baptist Church in Sylvester.
Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Debra Jacobs Hawkins of Tifton; two sons, Lee Hawkins and his fiance’, Susan Brown of Dallas and Marc Hawkins of Dunwoody; one daughter and son-in-law, Chrissy and Chad Scoggins of Rome; one brother, Ron Hawkins of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Karen McDonald of Sylvester; and six grandchildren, Christopher Hawkins, Matthew Hawkins, Virginia Hawkins, Jack Hawkins, Jacob Hawkins and Rocco Scoggins.
