WEBSTER – Alice M. (Galipeau) Mroczek, 83, of Golden Heights, died Monday, Dec. 26, in UMass Memorial Healthcare. Her husband of 25 years, Frank J. “Yank” Mroczek, died in 1995.
She leaves a daughter, Patricia A. Murawski and her husband John of The Villages, FL; a son, Dennis G. Gay, Sr. and his wife Bobbi of Ormond Beach, FL; a sister, Rita Smith of Tulsa, OK; 2 brothers, Albert Galipeau of Southbridge and George Galipeau of Bondsville; 6 grandchildren, Michael Murawski of Webster, Pam Olson and Andrea Sweet, both of Thompson, CT, Stephen Murawski of Honolulu, Pam McFarland of Kentucky, and Dennis Gay, Jr., of Orlando, FL; 9 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Gay of Southbridge in 1948, and by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
She was born and raised in Southbridge, a daughter of Alexander and Eva (Mayotte) Galipeau, and lived there most of her life, moving to Webster in 1989.
Mrs. Mroczek was a lens washer at the American Optical Company in Southbridge for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Southbridge. She was a member of the American Optical Quarter Century Club. She enjoyed bowling in leagues at the American Lanes in Southbridge. She liked knitting, cooking and baking. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed reading.
The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 30, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, Dec. 29, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to St. Anne Elementary School, 12 Day St., PO Box 818, Webster, MA 01570-0818
