Mary F. (Mahan) Lyons, age 99, passed away on Jan. 28, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on April 9, 1919 in Springfield, a daughter of the late John F. and Sadie E. (Collins) Mahan. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, class of 1937. Mary worked as a clerk for Mirkins Cleaners in Springfield for over 30 years. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Parish and more recently of Sacred Heart Church. Mary loved to read and sew and she was a proud den mother for the Cub Scouts of America. She is predeceased by her husband John Lyons who passed away in 2011. She is survived by her 2 sons, Richard C. Lyons of East Longmeadow and Edward J. Lyons and his wife Jane of Springfield; 1 sister-in-law Anita Mahan of East Longmeadow; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Lyons, Michael Lyons, Kelley Lyons and Kerry Norman; 6 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, E.J., Anthony, Andrew, Brennan and Samuel; her “adopted” son Michael Leahy and his wife Faith of Springfield; her close family friend Marita Mariani of Springfield along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter-in-law Joanne Lyons and her 2 brothers John F. Mahan and Edward J. Mahan. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at 9:00 am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 AM followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
