Tommy M. Young, 76, of Rebecca, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday, February 1, 2019, at Rebecca Baptist Church, in Rebecca, Georgia, with the Rev. Eric Smith officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until 12 Noon, in the sanctuary of the church.
Mr. Young was born December 15, 1942, in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Wiley Tom & Alice Elizabeth McCants Young. He was a 1959 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Young Harris College. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Chicago School of Arts. Mr. Young was Vice President of R.R. Donnelley in Atlanta. Following his retirement, he returned to his childhood farm in 2000. He enjoyed being a bus driver for the Ben Hill County School System, driving the same route he rode as a child. Mr. Young enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and painting. He painted several covers for Sports Afield magazine. Mr. Young was a member of Western Light #272 F.&A.M. and a member and deacon of Rebecca Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Frances Hinnant Young of Rebecca; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott Young & Joni Payne Young of Decatur and a grandson, Alex Huseby of Atlanta. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Austin Huseby.
