Ezio Del Monaco passed away at home on Saturday night. He was 72 years old. Born and raised in Pettorano sul Gizio, Italy he was the son of the late Domenico and Filomena (Di Censo) Del Monaco. He came to the United States as a young man after marrying his childhood sweet-heart. When they came to the United States they first lived in Boston’s North End before settling in Medford. Ezio worked in the construction business until his retirement. He began with Local 22 and later became an operating engineer with Local 4. A hardworking man who provided well for his family, he was involved in some of the most significant construction projects in greater Boston during his career. He was devoted to his family, enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family and many friends.
The beloved husband of the late Maria (Crugnale) who passed away this past November, he was a devoted father to Irma Fountain and her husband Brian of Saugus. He was a loving grandfather to Brianna and Isabella. The dear brother of Tonino Del Monaco and Olga Fizorilli, both of Italy, Eva Sciore of Canada and the late Delio and Dino Del Monaco. He also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, February 2 at 9AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday 4 – 8 PM.
