Ramona E. (Lewis) Cheney, 78 of Charlton, MA passed January 24th in Harrington Hospital, Southbridge. She was the wife of the late Winfield W. Cheney who passed in 2002. She was the only sister of the late David Lewis of Norfolk, MA.
She was born March 1940 in Palmyra, ME, the daughter of the late Lillian Lewis. Ramona was raised in Maine and later moved to Franklin, MA.
She raised her family in Bellingham, MA, and later lived in Charlton for the last 7 years.
After many years of service, she retired from Milford Regional Hospital. Going fishing was one of her favorite pastimes. She truly enjoyed arts and crafts such as knitting, quilting, and wood crafting.
Ramona is survived by her 8 children: Cynthia Barrett and husband Barry, of Blackstone, MA, Debra Walls and husband Charles, of Worcester, MA, Pamela Sampson and husband William, of Charlton, MA, David Leeman and wife Laurie, of Northbridge, MA, Randy Leeman of Northbridge, MA, Brian Leeman and his wife Jennifer, of Milford, MA, Robert Leeman of Rochester, NY, and the late Katherine Horace of Daytona Beach, FL.
Ramona was also known as Grammie to her 22 grandchildren: Stephanie Zancan, Ashley and Jeremy Lipka, Casey Walls, Kelly Walls, Melissa and Dave Foley, Wayne and Roxanne Partington, Dawn Partington and Michael Deschene, Tracey Sampson and Brendan McDonough, Tanya Sampson, Erin Leeman and Will Carter, Katie Leeman and Matt Keenan, Aleisha Pfiester, and Marissa Leeman.
She then became known as “GiGi” to her 14 beautiful great grandchildren: Nicole, Victor, Anthony, Josephine, Penelope, Charlie, Quincy, Lillian, David, Caleb, Paul, Lydia, Nathan, and Brooklyn.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 31st at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin. Calling hours begin at 11:00AM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00PM. Burial will be in Union Street Cemetery, 150 West Central Street, Franklin, MA immediately following the memorial services.
