Obituary

William L. “Bill” Caldwell 80, of Franklin, died peacefully, with loved one’s at his side, Thursday January 24, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Natalie A. (Richards) Caldwell, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

Born September 1, 1938, in Medford, Massachusetts, a son of the late Leo F. and Agnes I. (Crowley) Caldwell, he was a resident of Franklin for the past 47 years.

Raised and educated in Arlington, Bill was a member of the Arlington High School Hockey team and graduated in 1956. He continued his education at Boston College. He was the founder, owner and operator of ECI Mechanical. For several years he was the Function and Facility Manager at the Franklin Lodge of Elks. Bill continued to work at several other jobs up to his retirement last year.

Bill was a devoted husband, father and family man, he enjoyed sailing and beach walks. A fan of the New England Patriots since their inception, Bill was a longtime season ticket holder and enjoyed Sunday’s watching their games with family and friends.

A proud American he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin, & the Franklin Lodge of Elks, where he ran the Block Island trip for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter’s, Karen M. Dion of Norton, Gail D. Norton and her husband Mark of Cumberland, RI and Cheryl A. Gilchrist and her husband William of Millville.

Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Adam Dion, Emma Gilchrist, William “Liam” Norton and Erin Norton.

He was the brother of the late Robert Caldwell, and survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday Jan. 28th at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Square, Franklin at 10AM.

Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday from 11AM-3PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
