Obituary

Alfred J. Marcolini Jr. died peacefully in his sleep on January 20, 2019, after a long illness. Alfred, known to many as Al. or Uncle Al, was a longtime Preston resident and graduate of Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1969.

In his younger years, he was a “gearhead” who loved working on cars and he raced in his Corvette Stingray. He later worked at Electric Boat and retired after 30 years of service. He was a founding member and Past President (2009-2011) of the Men’s Auxiliary at the Preston V.F.W. and could often be found doing work at the post or serving as part-time bartender.

Most importantly, Al was a kind and gentle man who could always be counted on to care for his family and help a friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gail, and stepdaughter Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred J. and Phyllis (Pratt) Marcolini Sr. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sandy and Michael Vicki of Tolland, CT; sister and brother-in-law Carole and Donald Koziy of Killingworth, CT; sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Ronald Crouch of Norwich, CT; sister Cindy Bearden of Preston, CT; sister Tina Hoye of Oakdale, CT, granddaughters, nieces, and nephews.

All services will be private for the family.
