Ron went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 20, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School.
He was a cabinetmaker for his family's business, Gold's Cabinet Shop. He was a volunteer fireman and ambulance driver for Chesterfield Fire Department. He retired from General Motors. He was a member of mounds Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was a trustee.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Katherine Gold, children, Valerie (Doug) Townsend, Chuck (Lisa) Gold, Angie (Bill) Thompson, grandchildren, Ashley (Felix) Townsend de Lara, Adam (Sammy) Townsend, Matt Thompson, Shelby (Ty) Banister, Noah Gold, great grandchildren, Jace and Vivian Townsend, Faith Lara Townsend, and Alice Banister; sister, Judy Ott; special cousin, Joan Fondario in La Verne, California; stepchildren, Pamela (Wade A. ) Garringer of Mooreland, IN; David D. (Cindy Jo) Smith of Warren, IN step-grandchildren Shannah Mesaros, Travis A. Farling, Kerry L. Smith; four step-great-grandchildren, Clay Mesaros, Kaitlyn Mesaros, Laney Mesaros and Daphine Farling; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Alice (Humerickhouse) Gold, parents, Charles and Crystal Gold, daughter, Ronna Gold, stepson, Johnny A. Smith; and a granddaughter, Jessica L. Farling.
Visitation with the family will be at Mounds Baptist Church in Anderson on Thursday, January 24, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 6:30 p.m. officiated by Pastor Doug Gregg.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ranganath and staff from St. Vincent Anderson Cancer Center for their dedicated care these last few months.
