Robert C. Gonsalves, 72, of Westport, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Karen J. (Gwozdz) Gonsalves.
Mr. Gonsalves was born in New Bedford, son of the late Domingos and Deolinda (Mello) Gonsalves and had resided in Westport for over 20 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a letter carrier for the USPS. He had quite the eye for old cars and enjoyed fixing them up and selling them. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and had special relationships with all of them. Mr. Gonsalves had a great sense of humor that will truly be missed.
Survivors along with his wife include his 3 sons: Robert C. Gonsalves, Jr. and his wife Melissa of S. Dartmouth, Brian Gonsalves and his wife Debbie of N. Dartmouth and Jeffrey Roy and his wife Christy of Westport; 2 daughters: Jennifer Schubert and her husband Alex of Taunton and Coleen Magalhaes and her husband John of N. Dartmouth; a sister: Helen Macek and her companion Richard Gonalves of S. Dartmouth; along with 9 grandchildren: Amanda, Matthew, Maxwell, Andrew, Zoey, Holly, Laurana, Lillian and Amber.
He was the brother of the late Dorothy Gonsalves.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Thursday, at the Potter Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M.
Interment will be private.
