WAYLAND: Irene S. (Ward) Lembo, 95, died peacefully in the comfort of her family on January 16, 2019 at Saint Mary’s Health Care in Worcester after a period of declining health.
She was born in Wayland on August 8, 1923 the daughter of the late Thomas F. Ward and Irene C. (McEnroy) Ward.
She was the sister of the late Evelyn G. (Ward) Lupis who died in August of 2009 and Thomas D. Ward who died in August of 2000. Irene is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She spent her formative years in Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School. For several years she attended art school in Boston.
She had resided in Framingham and Natick for several years and also resided in Sandwich. She was an accomplished artist throughout the Cape and was known as “The Famous Painter”. She enjoyed painting landscapes, the ocean and scenery throughout New England.
In her earlier years, Irene enjoyed playing golf, time spent on the Cape and at the beaches and she was an avid Red Sox fan.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12:00 noon in the Payson-Ward family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Commonwealth Road (Rte. 30), Wayland.
