Gene J. “Champ” Guidi, Jr. 82, of Franklin, died peacefully, Friday January 19, 2019 surrounded by his family at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, following an illness.
Born January 11, 1937 in Springfield, a son of the late Eugene J. Guidi, Sr. and Mary C. (Ferrarese) Guidi, he was a resident of Franklin since 1968.
He was raised and educated in Springfield and was a Mining engineering graduate of Lehigh University. Until his retirement in 1996, he was a Vice President of Bird Machine Company in Walpole.
“Champ” enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing and watching the New England Patriots.
He was a former board member of the Charles River Water Resource District, Medway and was an active participant with the theater group Walpole Footlighters.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin E. Guidi and his wife Erina of Franklin and Jason J. Guidi and his wife Nicole of Summervile,South Carolina, Sisters, Dorothy Rossi of Rochester, NY, Barbara Higgins of Essex Junction, VT and Christina Guidi of Brattleboro, VT.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tyler & Katelyn Guidi, Ashton & Brooklynn Guidi, nephews, Nathaniel Higgins, Franco Rossi and his former wife, Lois J. (Dunn) Guidi of Woonsocket, RI.
At Gene’s request all services will be held privately.
