Faustina Anne Fogarty, 87, of Mystic passed away on January 17 after a brief illness. The youngest of eight children, who have all predeceased her, she was born in Bangor, Maine on April 21, 1931 to Thomas J. Fournier and Phoebe Michaud Fournier. Raised in Eagle Lake, Maine, Faustina moved to East Hartford as a child, and graduated from East Hartford High School in 1950. She married James M. Fogarty of Manchester, Connecticut on May 10, 1952. Soon thereafter they started their family of seven children. Faustina was extremely proud of her French heritage, and was a devout Catholic who valued God and family above all (thankfully, or else the next paragraph would have been a lot shorter).
Faustina was predeceased in death by her husband of 49 years in 2001, and her eldest daughter, Diane (Robert) Bush, in 2012. She is survived by her children Pamela Fogarty, Juleigh Wilson, Deirdre (Chuck) Goodwin, James Jr. (Sharon) Fogarty, Mary Jane (Mark) Lyons and Thomas (Jodi) Fogarty; by her 11 grandchildren Hannah (Yevgeny) Rapoport, Kaitlyn and Ian Bush, Phoebe and Molly Goodwin, Chelsea and Andrew Fogarty, Luke and Kienan Lyons, and Dylan and Cullen Fogarty; and by 1 great grandson Henry Rapoport.
Visitation will be held at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic on Thursday, January 24 from 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Mother of The Redeemer Catholic Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.
