CHICOPEE – Lorraine T. (Paquette) Goyette, 92, of “the Arbors” in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on November 1, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late William and Eva (Blain) Paquette. She was raised on Britton Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. She worked for many years at the Masse’s Fish Market on Chicopee Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee. She later was a seamstress for many years and worked at many of the local factories including the former Elco Dress Company in Holyoke. In her leisure time, she spent many hours in her sewing room at her home making numerous outfits with love for her children. In her younger years, she was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader in her community and was a member of the Moose Family Center 1849 in Chicopee. During her retirement, she worked part-time at Sunshine Village in their sheltered workshop and as a van driver. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Ulysses Raymond Goyette who was Called Home on February 5, 2012. They were married at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee on November 23, 1946 and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, Gary R. Goyette and his wife, Linda, and Donna M. Moran and her husband, William, all of Chicopee, and Paula J. Moran and her husband, Brian, of Westfield; her six cherished grandchildren, Justin Goyette and his wife, Kathy, Jessie Goyette and his wife, Tricia, Laurie Moran and her husband, Dan LeFever, Mary Outhuse and her husband, Dan, Brendan Moran and his wife, Kim, and Andrea Verrengia and her husband, Garrick; her five cherished great-grandchildren whom she adored, Aiden and Morgan Goyette, Megan and Ryan Outhuse and Peter Verrengia; her dear sister, Jeannette Arpin of Chicopee; her dear sister-in-law, Estelle Walunas of Southampton; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the Goyette and Paquette families. In addition to her beloved parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, William Paquette and his wife, Ida; and her two dear sisters, Edna Hamel and her husband, Leo, and Dorothy Rondeau and her husband, Edward. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, January 24, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (the funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
