Worcester – Alida “Liz” O. (St. Martin) Tousignant, 81, of Worcester, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 16th in the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center.
Liz was married to the late August “Gus” J. Tousignant, who passed away in 1982. She is survived by her three daughters, Lisa J. Papazian and her husband, Gregory of Shrewsbury, Michele M. Tousignant Dufour and her husband, Kevin of Hudson and Jeanine L. Tousignant of Manchester, NH; 4 grandchildren, Christina Santana-Smith and her husband, Aaron, Jonathan Papazian, Amelia Dufour and Annalise Dufour; a brother, Philip St. Martin of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tousignant was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles and Blanche (LaPlante) St. Martin and is also predeceased by two brothers, Edouard St. Martin and Paul St. Martin
Liz retired from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2007 where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Plant Services Department for over 20 years. Mrs. Tousignant was a life long resident of Worcester, with the exception of living in San Francisco for a few adventurous years during the 1960’s. She was a longtime member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Parish. Liz was known for her gift of gab, her independent spirit, and always being the last one to leave a good party. She marched to the beat of her own drum, and lived her life with a strength and moxie that will forever be an inspiration for her family.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 21st from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at Notre Dame Du Lac and LTC for their amazing care of Liz and her family over the past 9 years.
