Obituary

William J. Brady passed away peacefully in the company of his family. He was 85. Born and raised in Medford, the son of the late Benedict and Eleanor (Lenox) Brady, he lived in Medford all of his life. After high school he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He later worked for many years in the Medford Public Works Department. Bill served for 25 years as a member of the Medford School Committee. He was devoted to making education efforts in Medford Public Schools the best they could be. He was a tireless advocate for all aspects of education, whether academic, social, the fine arts or athletics. The betterment of the next generations was his priority. Bill was a devoted family man and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed music and singing at family gatherings as well as spending the colder months at his Sarasota, Florida home. He was an avid reader and a devout Catholic who knew his faith and scripture.


The beloved husband of the late Dorothy “Dottie” (Mahoney) Brady, he was a devoted father to Robin Brady Hoff of Tewksbury, Paula McGlynn and her husband Richard of Medford, Sharon Keith and her husband Mark of Medford, MaryBeth Buckley and her husband Paul of Wakefield, Michelle Foy and her husband Shawn of Haverhill and William J. Brady, Jr. and Karen Stone of Medford. He was a loving grandfather of Bobby, Leah, Richard, Michael, John, Erin, Patrick, MaryBeth, Katie, Robert, Ellen, Carley, Ned, David, Mitchell and a loving great-grandfather of Rachel, Thomas, Erin and Daniela. He also leaves his dear brother Peter Brady and sister-in-law, Mill McCreedy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St., Wakefield, Saturday January 19th from 10-11 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated at 11 AM. Services will conclude with military honors. Interment private.
