G. Jeannette (Grimstead) Jordan, of Ocean View Avenue, Mystic, passed Saturday at Mystic Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was 89.
Mrs. Jordan was born in South Norfolk, VA on February 27, 1916 the daughter of Angus and Jessie (Paige) Grimstead. A resident of Mystic for several years, she and her husband also enjoyed a home in Stockbridge, Vermont.
She was employed as an appointment clerk at the former New London office of the State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles for many years before retiring in 1978.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and the church’s quilting guild. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed gardening.
Her husband, Leander M. Jordan, died March 21, 1981.
Mrs. Jordan leaves her sons, Gregory L. Jordan of Stonington, Gilbert F. Jordan of Pawcatuck, and John J. Jordan of Groton; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 1-1:45pm. Her service will be at 2pm with the Rev. Mark A. Santucci, officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
