…Bayberry Resident; 89
TEWKSBURY - Kieko (Otomo) Sullivan, age 89, died peacefully Sunday morning, January 13, 2019, at her Bayberry apartment. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward P. Sullivan Sr., whom she met and married during his enlistment in the Army during the Korean War, while he was stationed in Japan. They were married 65 years, until his death in 2016.
Kieko was born in Sendai, Japan, emigrated to the United States in 1952, and became a naturalized citizen. She lived in Parsippany, New Jersey until 2016, when she moved to Massachusetts to be close to her son. In her younger years, in addition to her duties as a wife and mother, she worked at the Boonton Handbag Company and later at Parsippany High School. She will be remembered fondly for her kind heart and beaming smile.
She leaves her son Edward P. Sullivan Jr., and his companion Pamela Leggett; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Kelly and her husband Robert; two adored granddaughters, Abigail Kelly and Margaret Kelly; two sisters, Mitsuko Otomo and Natsuko Otomo, both living in Japan; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Kieko will be held January 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bayberry at Emerald Court Assisted Living Community, in Tewksbury. A Graveside Memorial Service for both Kieko and her late husband Ed will be held April 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Veteran’s Section in Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kieko’s memory to the American Lung Association, National Headquarters, 55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601, would be appreciated.
