Robert Edward Wollner, Jr, 41, was called home to heaven on Wednesday, Jan 9, 2019 after using up the last of his spare parts. He was preceded in death by his dog CJ, a portion of small and large intestine, appendix, gallbladder, two sets of lungs, and multiple kidney stones. He is now reunited in the great junkyard with all of his missing parts.
Robert met the love of his life, Kerrin, out in Colorado in 2009. Their story is one of chance and being in the same place at the same time, although for different reasons. Kerrin was finishing up a travel nursing contract in Colorado, and Rob, who hadn’t been diagnosed with any lung issues at the time, came in for what they thought was pneumonia. Kerrin noticed Rob had a four wheeling magazine on the bed and they started talking. Rob offered to help Kerrin with some brake work that needed to be done on an off-roader that she wanted to build. Kerrin was hesitant, but when Rob got readmitted a few weeks later, and it was Kerrin’s last night of her contract, she decided to take him up on his offer. To this day, whether or not the brakes really needed repair is up for debate.
Robert enjoyed many things in life. Among those were rock crawling in his Jeep, scouting out junkyards with friends, fixing and restoring vehicles, his small petting zoo of fur children, feeding the geese behind his home, his German heritage, farming, and posting random memes on Facebook.
Robert will be lovingly remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, ability to fix just about anything, strength and determination, and ability to live life to the fullest.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Wollner, Father-in-law Paul Kirdahy, and grandparents. Robert is survived by his wife Kerrin Wollner, father Robert (Christy) Wollner, sister Christina (Mallie) Reed, Parents in law Joanne and Jerry Kowitt, and numerous extended family, friends, and fur children.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 1pm at Platts Funeral Home, in Evans, GA. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the lung transplant foundation, Duke Lung Transplant Directors Fund, or Donate life.
