Glen Schaeffer, age 67, of Burgaw, NC, died peacefully, January 2, 2019 at Accordius Nursing Home in Wilmington, NC following a lengthy battle with cancer. Glen was the husband of Susan (Papineau) Schaeffer. Born in Washington DC, son of the late Clyde and Dorothy (Morse) Schaeffer. Glen was raised and educated in McLean, VA and was a 1969 graduate of McLean High School. Glen served during Vietnam as an Air Traffic Radar Repairman in the Air Force and was discharged in 1975.
Glen and Susan were married on October 23, 1976 and had three children; Meredith Rees of Virginia Beach, VA, Andrew Schaeffer of Leesburg, VA and Mallory Schaeffer of Centerville, VA. He was the grandfather of Alexander, Aidan, Hannah Rees and Lucy Schaeffer, and son-in law of Marshall and Christine (Crowley) Papineau. He was the brother in law of Michael McCabe and Stephen Papineau of Brockton and Mark Papineau of PA; Mary Cormier, Ellen McCabe, Josephine Papineau and the late William Cormier. He is also survived by many uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services were held in Wilmington, NC on January 5th. Burial will be held at a later date.
