Obituary

John F. McPhee, 70, of Derry, NH, passed away Tuesday January 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving family in the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH. He was born in Boston, MA on March 22, 1948, a son of the late John P. and Edna (O'Neil) McPhee. John proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Iron Workers Local #7 Union in Boston for over 25 years, retiring in 1994.

John was a devote catholic and developed a very special bond with the clergy at CMC hospital, and always appreciated the prayers of friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. John and Shirley spent over 20 years living in Inverness FL where he enjoyed fishing and time on their pontoon boat with friends. John was a proud Irish man and St. Patrick's Day was one of his favorite holidays. One of his greatest joys is that he was able to see the birth of his first great granddaughter.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary (Burch) McPhee, his two children, Celeste Clark and her husband Richard and John Paul McPhee; seven grandchildren, Richard Jr. and wife Gena, Daniel, Bradley, Nicholas, Bella, John Paul Jr., and Aria; great-granddaughter, Ava; and one brother, Jay McPhee. John was predeceased by two brothers, Timothy and James McPhee.

Following cremation, memorial calling hours were held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4 – 5:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry.
