Obituary

James F. “Jim” Boutin, 63, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on January 5 in his home after a long period of failing health. He was the son of the late Joseph V. and Elizabeth “Bette” (Verdone) Boutin.

James attended Brockton schools and aside from a brief period in Florida, lived in Brockton his entire life.

Before suffering a disabling work injury, James was a very accomplished auto mechanic whose ability to “turn a wrench” was second to none. He worked for several car dealerships throughout the South Shore and was highly sought after for the speed in which he was able to complete a job. In addition, he had his own business repairing the steering column of vehicles that had been vandalized or stolen.

James enjoyed working on cars, motorcycles and dune buggies. He was an avid collector of just about anything that caught his eye. He was adept at throwing darts and was a member of several dart teams at local pubs. He looked forward to the Brockton Fair every year and would return home with armfuls of stuffed animals and dolls that he gave away to friends and relatives just to make them smile. He especially enjoyed watching old TV shows such as The Three Stooges and westerns.

James’ final months were spent in his home under the care of his dedicated and beloved longtime girlfriend, Janice Orzechowski, and her brother Brian, a dear friend of James. He is also survived by his brother, John Boutin and his wife Denise of Raynham. Arrangements and a celebration of life will be private.

Please consider donations in James’ memory to Teen Challenge of Brockton, 20 Clifton Avenue, Brockton, MA 02301.
