Obituary

Pauline A. (Stevens) Cane, 86, of Spencer, died Friday, January 4th in the Lutheran Home. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie L. Woolard and her husband Seth, who tirelessly provided care for Pauline over the past five years; her sister, Elsie M. Gartsu and her husband, Thomas of Trumball, CT; two granddaughters, Morgan and Kaitlyn Woolard, several nieces and nephews, including Gretta Gartsu-Flynn, Karla Gartsu-Brunneau, Jason Gartsu and grand-nieces and grand-nephews as well as her dearest friend, Muriel Halloran of Worcester.

She was born in Marlborough the daughter of Lambi and Theodora (Kocilari) Kacimbro Stevens. Pauline had worked in customer service for several area banks including Shawmut and Fleet Banks; she had previously worked for Heald Machine. Her commitment to family was demonstrated as she helped her parents run the Park Ave. Spa for many years. She was an active member of St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, the Daughters of St. Mary, served as past vice-president for the parish and was a tireless volunteer at the church and did not hesitate in doing anything that needed to be done, including the biannual Albanian Festival. She was also a long time volunteer at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Pauline was an avid bowler, and will be remembered for her beautiful spirit and her devotion to her family.

Her funeral is Thursday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 9th from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
