Emanuel Glory Reis, a retired Provincetown chef, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sandwich. He was 67.
Born in Provincetown, son of the late Edmund and Mary [Souza] Reis, he was a graduate of Provincetown High School. After high school, he graduated from the Fannie Farmer Cooking School, a part of Simmons College in Boston, where he developed his skills as a chef. He then returned to Provincetown to start his career in the food service industry.
‘Glory’, as he was known, worked as a chef at various Provincetown establishments, including the Weathering Heights Steakhouse, the Holiday Inn, Stormy Harbor Restaurant, Michael Shay’s and Bayside Betsey’s. He relocated to Florida for work for a period of time, and then retired back to Provincetown.
He leaves a sister, Kathryn DeSousa and her husband Fernando of North Truro, nephew Christopher DeSousa and a niece, Suzanne DeSousa.
A graveside service will be scheduled for the spring at a time and date to be announced.
