Obituary

Robert L. Mason passed away peacefully at his Medford home surrounded by his family on Friday night. He was 77. Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Catherine (O'Hearn) Mason. Robert grew up in the Central Square neighborhood of Cambridge and was proud to have served as an altar boy at St. Mary’s Parish. Robert worked as a truck driver throughout his life. He was a member of Teamsters Local 25 and also owned his own trucking company, BM Trucking, specializing in container transport. A resident of Somerville for several years before settling in Medford in 1988, Robert also worked for Paul Revere Transport and was a shuttle driver for Dana Farber Cancer Institute, as well as working with Wheels of Happiness. He was a devoted husband, father and friend to many. He took pride in his work of transporting patients and their families, showing kindness and friendship to those undergoing medical treatment.

Robert was the beloved husband of Sheila (Mangan) Mason and a devoted father to Joseph L. Mason and Joni Carroll of Somerville, Robert P. Mason and his wife Kerry of Everett, Kelly Levins and her husband James of Tewksbury, Colleen Mason and George McKim of Woburn, Debra L. Kedian and Ray Thomas of Haverhill, Martin D. Kedian and Gina DeFeudis of Haverhill, Richard J. Kedian of Medford, and the late James L. Kedian and his late wife Susan (Eovine) Kedian formerly of Medford. He was a loving grandfather to Sarah, James, Robert, Shane, Shelby, Nikolas, Brendan and Danny. He was also a dear brother to John J. "Jack" Mason and his wife Carol, Ann Marie Sousa and her husband Richard.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday January 9th at 9 AM. Followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home, Tuesday 4-8 PM.
