Obituary

Edward F. Sargent, Sr., 79 of Chester, NH died Thursday January 3, 2019 in Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. Ed was born in Plaistow, NH on June 16, 1939 a son of the late Lewis and Avis Sargent. Ed entered active duty with the US Marine Corp in 1957 and was honorably discharged from reserves in 1963 when he moved to Chester. He previously lived in Plaistow and Haverhill, MA. Ed was employed as a truck driver for many years, working for several New England companies. He was also a member of the NH Power of the Past Collectors and attended many area shows and fairs. He loved race cars and valued most time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by one daughter, Tina M. Sargent of Chester, one son, Edward F. Sargent, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Chester, six grandchildren, Edward, Sam, April, Kalie, Kristine, and Esra, five great-grandchildren, Arie, Sammy, Emma, Travis, and Xavier, one sister, Carolyn Steer and her husband, Roger and their sons, Jeffrey, Jonathan, and Jason Steer all of Plaistow, and his niece, Linda Sargent Danahy. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine E. (Frye) Sargent in 2012, and also by his brothers, Donald and Russell of Plaistow.

Calling hours were held on Thursday January 10, 2019 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Graveside services will be held in the Spring in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester.
