Raymond A. Roy, Jr., 57, of Dartmouth, died December 17, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Karen M. (Cohen) Roy, to whom he was married for 33 years.
He was born in New Bedford, the son of the late Dolores M. (Proulx) Reed and Raymond A. Roy, Sr. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and received an Associate's Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
Mr. Roy was formerly employed at Ashley Ford in both the Service and Sales Departments, and was also a school bus driver for Tremblay's Bus Company.
He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of both the Moose Lodge #914 and the Elks Lodge #73 in New Bedford.
Mr. Roy had many interests and hobbies, including playing in a Dart League for many years, home remodeling and DIY projects around his home, doing volunteer work (functions, winter coat and blanket drive) and helping people that are less fortunate, and computers and the internet.
He enjoyed spending time with his immediate family, especially his grandchild, Autumn. He also enjoyed being with his family's pets.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Brittany M. Roy of Fall River; a granddaughter, Autumn Mae Roy of Dartmouth; a daughter-in-law, Alicia M. French of Dartmouth; a brother, Mark Roy and wife Diane of New Bedford; two sisters-in-law, Susan Cohen and fiancé James Creel of Rehoboth, and Nancy Beberness and husband Glenn of New Bedford; a paternal aunt, Sandy Theg of Lakeville; and three nephews, Robert J. Mello of Rehoboth, Josey Swire and wife Crystal of New Bedford, and Jason Beberness of New Bedford.
He was the father of the late Brandon M. Roy.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2019 from 6-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
