Sancil Emily Holder, 92, of Tifton passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Miss Holder will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church on Sunday, January 6, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Miss Holder’s nephews and nieces will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 19, 1926, in Tifton, Miss Holder was the daughter of the late Emmett Holder and Sankie Chiles Holder. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Holder Blackburn. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia State Woman’s College in Valdosta. Before retiring, she taught school in the Tift County School System and was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she held the longest, continuous membership.
Miss Holder is survived by one sister, Lolla Lee Holder Pulliam of Valdosta; her nieces and nephews, Jeb Blackburn, Andy Blackburn, Sam Blackburn, David Pulliam, Lynne Pulliam and Robert Pulliam; and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, 9420 Blackshear Highway, Baxley, GA 31513.
