John Robert Barrett

John Robert (Bob) Barrett left this earth on January 3, 2019 surrounded by his devoted family and with a full heart. He lived an extraordinary, ordinary life and considered himself one of the lucky ones for he loved and was loved in return.
Bob’s life was a series of epic adventures that included a position as a radio operator in the Air Force, near 57 years of marriage to his soul mate, travel to each corner of the earth, father to five, and grandfather to eleven.
His achievements were many but none greater than his family; he lives within them and will walk beside them always. His wife and best friend, Jean Barrett; his children Colette Sweeney and her husband Andy, Joanne Leary and her husband Paul, Melanie Coia and her husband Bob, Chris Barrett and his wife Barbara, and Tanya Lawrence and her husband Eric; his grandchildren Kaci Sweeney, Conor Sweeney, Cameron Sweeney, Derek Leary, Kyle Leary, Spencer Leary, Aidan Coia, Alec Coia, Eagan Coia, Griffin Lawrence, and Ella Lawrence.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12 at St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, MA to which family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Rhode Island and New England Center and Home for Veterans in honor of those who fought valiantly and those who continue to thrive.
